Deep Sky’s 2D and 3D animation departments worked together to create the “two worlds” that Big Wild’s main character, Mopsy the Rabbit, would live in. Together, the team chose a familiar world to begin Mopsy’s journey. They then enhanced the contrast of this normal world against the final forest party, utilizing dynamic angles, a richer saturation, and 3D environments.
The world built in 3D was designed to meld perfectly with the 2D-animated creatures. Mimicking real life, Deep Sky’s artists removed the line art from its 2D characters and focused on how colors and lighting in a scene could marry together. This integrated the two mediums harmoniously.
